Guided Hikes & Canyoneering Tours

Moab Area Guided Hikes

Daily Fitness Hikes

Resort guests are invited to meet at the main lodge each morning for a brisk fitness hike. This daily activity is free of charge, and no sign up is required - guests just need to meet our hike leader promptly at 7:30 am each morning.

Fisher Towers

Visible from Sorrel River Ranch, these amazing spires comprise some of the largest freestanding rock formations in the U.S., with The Titan towering 900 feet over the trail below! The fluted sandstone give theses structures a personality all their own, and the hoodoos that surround them help create an otherworldly feel. This is an easy to moderate hike (4 miles /approximately 3-4 hours) with a slight elevation gain that allows for some spectacular views of the Fisher Valley and the Colorado River. A favorite hike of Sorrel River Ranch guests!

Fiery Furnace

Located in Arches National Park, Fiery Furnace is a labyrinth fins, ribs, towers, boulders, and arches. Due to the maze-like nature of this area, hikers must have a permit or must visit this area as a part of a guided tour. Sorrel River Ranch is licensed as a commercial tour operator for this exclusive hike, and resort guests can expect a nearly private tour experience with earlier morning departures. An incredible area with hidden arches and spectacular rock formations, this is must-see secret of Arches. This two-mile hike is moderate, with some crawling and scrambling required, and lasts approximately four hours.

Mary Jane Canyon

Just a short distance from Sorrel River Ranch, this full day hike follows a refreshing stream up the canyon for four miles. Scrambling over small cascades, passing through weather-cut narrows, and playing on a natural water slide make this an ideal summertime hike. The canyon dead-ends at a picturesque double-streamed waterfall where you stop for lunch. For greater adventure, consider rappelling over the waterfall – an experience you will never forget! This moderate hike is approximately 9.5 miles.

Women's Hiking Week

Each October, the resort hosts a special women's week of guided hiking trips in the Moab area. It's an exclusive opportunity for a fitness focused, girlfriend getaway or mother/daughter retreat in the desert.
