Fisher Towers
Visible from Sorrel River Ranch, these amazing spires comprise some of the largest freestanding rock formations in the U.S., with The Titan towering 900 feet over the trail below! The fluted sandstone give theses structures a personality all their own, and the hoodoos that surround them help create an otherworldly feel. This is an easy to moderate hike (4 miles /approximately 3-4 hours) with a slight elevation gain that allows for some spectacular views of the Fisher Valley and the Colorado River. A favorite hike of Sorrel River Ranch guests!
Fiery Furnace
Located in Arches National Park, Fiery Furnace is a labyrinth fins, ribs, towers, boulders, and arches. Due to the maze-like nature of this area, hikers must have a permit or must visit this area as a part of a guided tour. An incredible area with hidden arches and spectacular rock formations, this is must-see secret of Arches. This two-mile hike is moderate, with some crawling and scrambling required, and lasts approximately four hours.
Mary Jane Canyon
Just a short distance from Sorrel River Ranch, this full day hike follows a refreshing stream up the canyon for four miles. Scrambling over small cascades, passing through weather-cut narrows, and playing on a natural water slide make this an ideal summertime hike. The canyon dead-ends at a picturesque double-streamed waterfall where you stop for lunch. For greater adventure, consider rappelling over the waterfall – an experience you will never forget! This moderate hike is approximately 9.5 miles.
La Sal Mountains
Just a short drive from the Moab area, the La Sal Mountains offer a cool escape from the summer heat of the desert. Hiking opportunities in the La Sals are numerous and range from short hikes to lakes and meadows to a strenuous climb to the summit for 360-degree views. Hikes range from easy to moderate and half day or full day adventures are available.

Moab’s most popular half-day canyoneering adventure includes easy to moderate hiking suitable for families and couples and features a rappel of 95 feet into a deep rock gutter, followed by a 120-foot rappel off of a natural stone bridge into the verdant canyon below!
