Fiery Furnace Hike in Moab, UT

Looking for a great hiking trip to take during your Moab vacation? The Fiery Furnace hike is one of the best guided hikes around Moab. The Fiery Furnace is challenging and offers breathtaking views of the area. It can be hiked year round with the best times being fall and spring. Stay with us at Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spaand get up close and personal with the Moab desert on a Fiery Furnace hike.

The hike usually takes between 2 and 3 hours and is considered moderately difficult. This is the only hike in Arches National Park that requires a guide. Trails are not marked so a guide is necessary to make sure you don’t end up wandering the desert. On this hike you will be required to jump small gaps, climb through tight spaces, walk narrow ledges, hold yourself up between two rock walls and other strenuous activities. Be truthful about your physical ability before taking this hike on, all participants will be required to complete the hike. You will need proper hiking shoes or boots. No sandals or flip flops here. You will also need to bring water to remain hydrated throughout the hike.

The Fiery Furnace is made up of a labyrinth of narrow passages consisting of sandstone fins and tapered ledges. Some sections truly feel like you are in a hedge maze made of rock. While the desert sun can be vicious at times, The Fiery Furnace actually offers quite a bit a shade. The National Park Service limits the number of people who can hike the fiery furnace each day so you will need to make reservations in advance.
